Lightning, it is said, is one of the most beautiful displays in nature. It is also one of the most deadly phenomena known to man. With bolt temperatures hotter than the sun and shockwaves beaming out in all directions, lightning is a lesson in physical science and humility.....

Apple-picking went Anika

Apple! - not the designer of iPod and iTunes, Mac laptop and desktop computers, the OS X operating system and the revolutionary iPhone and iPad....... but the pomaceous fruit of the apple tree, species Malus domestica in the rose family.
Yes, that apple! That apple which comes in all shades of reds and greens and yellows. That apple which was the favorite fruit of ancient Greeks and Romans.... and of Anika... which is why with her, we went apple-picking yesterday.
This lovely cluster of yellow flowers was at the entrance of the farm... lovely sight as Anika said goodbye to the apple afternoon she just enjoyed!
