I joined a speech club -
A mistake I made?
I stand now to speak
in front of a crowd so
quietly, patiently, waiting.
And as I meet those eyes
seemingly just ready to gun
me down, feel the ground
that I stand on starting to
shake, to fiercely rumble
and swallow me swiftly -
Should I pray that lightning
strike me dead or should I
haste in letting go the first
of those words that, too,
can't really wait
to fly off my lips?
